O' pumpkin pie, your time has come 'round again and I am autumnrifically happy!

So I apologize once again on the severe delay in my posting J I really have a gap this time! I’ve just been so busy these past couple months and so when I actually thought about posting and went to look at my last one I was kinda surprised how long it has been! So I figured I’d better get one out of the way before the holidays and I get even more behind! (Although I'm writing this as we travel and I left all our pictures on our other computer so this might not post til after we get home :)

Let’s see…after Evelyn’s birthday one thing we did was go pick out pumpkins and carve them! We were gonna go to the farm nearby and do the hayride like we did last year but the day Mark had off they were closed so we just went to one of the nearby churches that brings them in every year and got some there instead. I was pretty pleased with our pumpkins this year, they turned out pretty cool! I found both Mark’s design and mine online and really loved them. Unfortunately the days after we carved were pretty wet so they went bad realllly quick. Super gross.

Next up was Halloween! I went pretty simple with the kiddos this year and Evelyn went as a “nice witch”, I made her tutu and then she just wore a hat, leggings, and shirt with it, and I found Andrew a sweatsuit/skeleton costume…which I thought would be easy to find, and they were, but only for little babies! So I finally found this one at a consignment sale and luckily it fit him at Halloween. He was so excited to go around with the big kids though and had so much fun! He really think he’s such a big boy and can do anything the big kids can. It’s so cute!

One of the bigger things we’ve done since my last post was take a little family vacation to Myrtle Beach! Mark had a long weekend for Veteran’s Day so we decided to take the time to get out of town and do something different. I originally wanted to go up to Asheville and do stuff up there but it was just gonna be too expensive and the drive was much longer so we just found a hotel/resort place in Myrtle Beach that had a nice indoor pool/water park area and was on the beach and enjoyed a nice relaxing time away from home!
We went to the aquarium one morning which was fun although smaller than I expected. Then we spend time at the beach, walked around some of the nearby areas, and spent time at the pool. So not the most thrilling/exciting vacation but still nice. Evelyn had a lot of fun and has asked to go back so I’m gonna take that as a successful vacation. J

They had trees decorated for every state throughout the aquarium, this is the Missouri tree :)

kinda creepy to have these big sharks swimming above your head... :)

view from our room! :)

she ate pretty good with chopsticks! I was impressed anyway

Mark turned her into a mermaid :)

enjoying some deeelicccious ice cream!

TOO CUTE!

Feeding the birds!

Evelyn was too scared though so she threw some bread down from the bridge instead

He likes to use our flip flops to dig

As for day to day, Mark has been busy with his usual work stuff. Evelyn has her preschool 3 days a week and then dance once a week still and is loving both. They had a parent watch day (we don’t get to watch every class period which kinda sucks but I get to run errands while she’s in there so that’s nice J ) so that was fun. She was super cute and did really good! She got a little “report card” that day and she had good remarks and only had a lower one on rhythm or something…basically timing issues really…which I did notice during the class that she had everything down but she was ahead of the beat/other girls. So yeah, she’s doing great though! Her Christmas recital is in December so I’m excited to see her on stage.
Andrew is keeping me busy cuz he’s getting into everything but he’s really a good boy and I’m so grateful he’s good at entertaining himself, especially while Evelyn’s at school, cuz I can get a lot done! He’s so adorable and fun though.

she's sooo cute and sooo funny when she dances...especially at home

he already loves to rough around with dad!

Andrew LOVES to sit at the table like a big boy :)

putting 'em to work!

Andrew loves the slide but only goes down on his tummy...

it's pretty cute

although his leg got caught this time

he doesn't care though!

being a big boy!

snooping in the pantry cabinet...I had to get a latch after this...

It randomly snowed one night so the kids went out for a minute

he wasn't quite sure what to do though :)

this was just Andrew being silly one night...

he was being so funny and cute!

more cleaning! they really like to clean this window :)

trying to be an even bigger boy and eating with a fork! not very sucessfully though :)

As for me, I’ve had a busy couple months like I said! Between the day to day stuff with kids and church stuff and the increase in pictures I’ve been taking…I haven’t had a ton of free time! I’ve been taking a lot of pictures for my friend Kelly still…a lot of Homecomings, which are fun, and then this past month I’ve been doing quite a few other sessions for her cuz her other girl up here has been out of town. So super nice for me! I’ve done quite a few family sessions for her as well as a maternity, a couples session, and a 9 month old session. I’ve also done quite a few family sessions for myself with the holiday picture season upon us J.

And then the biggest picture happening for me is I did my first wedding in October! I can’t remember if I mentioned anything on here before or not but a co-worker/friend of Mark’s (I actually did their engagement pictures) got married in October and had a photographer but a month before the wedding backed out so they were kinda freaking out and asked me to do it. I was a bit hesitant at first, mainly cuz that’s just such a bigger undertaking than a family session in many ways…timewise, editing wise, planning…lots more pressure cuz it’s one of those moments you either get or don’t get and you can’t really redo J.

Anywho, so I thought about it for a couple days and finally said yes and really am glad I did. I very luckily got a friend from church to second shoot for me and together we did a really good job! I’m super happy with how everything turned out anyway so I’m pleased with myself. Still not gonna go out and make weddings my main focus or anything cuz they are pretty stressful and I got super lucky and had a really low-key/low-stress wedding for my first one and I know they definitely are not all like that. But at least I have that experience now and know that I can do it if I’m ever asked to do a wedding again…WHICH I actually am gonna shoot my second one in December! J My friend Kelly that I work for, has a best friend, Melissa, up here that does videography for weddings so they team up a lot and do weddings together, the photos and video…anyway, I’ve met Melissa and have seen her around a lot and really like. Anywho, she contacted me the other day about a small/intimate wedding (like there’s only gonna be 12-15 people total with the bride and groom) that she’s doing video for and needed a photographer so she asked me and I’m gonna do it! I’m super glad it’s gonna be so small though. Definitely seems like less pressure/stressful.

Here's a few collages of pics from the wedding :)

SO yeah! That along with my YW calling at church and then the little projects I throw in for myself here and there…I’ve been busy! It’s good though, makes time go by and I feel pretty productive! I know that next year is gonna be super different so I’m really glad for all the pictures I’ve been able to do lately.

Here's our Family pics this year...I know almost everyone has seen these already or gotten our card but they're so cute! My friend who shot at the wedding with me took them and I love them!

The kids didn't cooperate enough that day to get one of the two of them so I took them out one day myself and took some pics in the cotton fields...which I've been dying to do cuz they're so pretty!!! Nothing has worked out to do anyone's pics there though so I used my two favorite models. :) Doesn't hurt to have more pics of your kids! I love how they turned out though, even though they still weren't cooperating together so I only got the one good shot but that's all you need sometimes! Evelyn was great though and I got some awesome shots of her...she's just growing up too fast though!

Happy girl!

Not the best shot ever but they're both looking and smiling so score for me! :)

My beautiful girl! I love this one

and a little more serious/grown up! eek!
So yeah! I think that's all for now! I'll be posting another smaller post soon with some pics from our Thanksgiving week trip to Alabama!

Evelyn {4 Years Old}

Can you believe I have a FOUR year old? It honestly feels like I've had her in my life for so much longer! It doesn't help that she seems so much older than four....which I know I've said so quite a few times in her little life but it's true! This girl is quite the spunky little thing....definitely keeps things interesting and entertaining!

Let's see....going over a whole year of changes is kinda hard! So this might be a bit random... :)

Evelyn has such a huge imagination and is SO fun to listen to while she's playing...she comes up with the most random/funny things. Her biggest imagination thing this past year has been in the invention of her "imaginary family", which consists of "her daughters" and her "old dad". She talks about them all the time while she's playing and the other day she even got upset while playing duck, duck, goose with her neighbor friend and she came to me crying that Maddie had "pushed" one of her daughters down...haha! goodness...One time she came in the house and was like, "ugh! You kids are embarrassing me!" I don't know what about but it was funny :)

After Evelyn turned three last year she started preschool at the CDC on base....last year she went T/TH and this year she's going MWF. She missed the cutoff for Pre-K at the elementary school which is why I upped her to three days a week but she enjoys it and I really like her teacher, which she had last year. She has one friend in her class this year that was in her class last year so that's been nice. They seem to be pretty inseparable in class. She's got quite a few friends from church/school/our street/my friends kids. She invited 8 little girls to her birthday party and main was it crazy! fun but crazy :) Anywho....she seems to really like school and always has good reports so all is well there!

She's also in a "real" Sunday School class at church and loves it...she loves singing time and her singing teacher and loves her "little class". Apparently she and another girl Aliza are just inseparable in that class which I didn't find out for weeks cuz Evelyn never talked about her. I saw them holding hands walking to class though and Aliza's mom said that Aliza's come out of her shell a bit with Evelyn by her side which is good! Glad she's helping her little friends out :) They're pretty cute together though. Evelyn can be fairly shy sometimes so helping out an even shyer friend is good for her. She's really quite obsessed with her friends.....the first thing she asks me every day she gets out of school is "who's coming over to play and/or who's house are we going to go play?" She asks all throughout the day who can play with her...gets a little old sometimes...

Last year Evelyn took Gymnastics, which she really liked, and this year she is doing a ballet/tap class, which she really likes too. One of her besties from church is in her class and her mom is one of my besties so that works out good for all of us :) She looks adorable in her little dance outfit and watching her dance at home is pretty funny! As some of you've seen from the videos I've put on Facebook :) She is SO funny!

I honestly don't know what to go over....a year really is hard! So here's some of the funny things I"ve posted on Facebook from the past year :)

Evelyn (babbling on about Disney World, princesses, herself...)...." and I will grow up and I will fall in love and I will get married and you need to make me a married dress so I can go to Disney World."

Evelyn was looking at my wedding scrapbook today and she started "crying" so I was like, what's the matter? and her reply: "I wanted to be at your wedding!!!" haha! she's so wedding-struck right now!

Evelyn: "I don't want to be smart, I only want to be beautiful"

Then she told me I took her "smarts" away.... Haha! Funny child....

Evelyn: "Mommy's have hips, kids and daddy's don't have hips, only mommy's"

haha! she definitely was NOT talking about hips ;)

I love how Evelyn calls "hoodies", "puddings"...don't know how she came up with that one but it's cute! :)

so I came downstairs after putting Andrew down for a nap and Evelyn was in the bathroom with the water running so I was like, what are you doing? Evelyn: "washing my underwear." me: "um...why??" Evelyn: "because somebody got a little poop in them, but it wasn't me." me: "well who was it then?" Evelyn: "my tiger"

oh boy... :)

Evelyn (at church): "I think Jesus is driving here to teach us"

"It tastes like boogers. Like when we have a booger party! We can have a booger party in October!"

My child is so random....

me: have good dreams tonight Evelyn!
Evelyn: I can't dream. Only on Thursday can I dream.

Oh kids....so funny!

Evelyn (babbling on about Disney World, princesses, herself...)...." and I will grow up and I will fall in love and I will get married and you need to make me a married dress so I can go to Disney World."

Evelyn was watching "The Lorax" and when the guy was headed for the waterfall she was like, "he's in a little bit of trouble!" haha! she's been so funny lately

Evelyn playing with her pretend babies after they had "run away"....
"I need to teach them a lesson"

April 9
Evelyn's been super funny saying prayers lately...tonight at dinner she prayed that we would be "strong and healthy and strong like super heroes"....and then she went on from there about castles and unicorns and princesses..... :)

April 28
Evelyn: "Mom, your hips go up when you laugh"

Once again these aren't hips she's talking about...which of course I couldn't stop laughing and then she was like, see! oh kids!!!

April 30
Evelyn: Mom, shorts aren't beautiful.
Me: I'm wearing shorts, am I not beautiful?
Evelyn: No, you're beautiful but shorts aren't.

This girl will try anything not to wear pants/shorts/jeans! Skirts and dresses allll the way!

June 15

So for the past long while Evelyn has had a pretend "family of bears" living in our house...sometimes they're not nice and she can't even go upstairs by herself cuz she's scared and then sometimes, like today, they are nice and she was playing playdoh with the kid bear....haha! such a funny girl :)

June 18

And a new rapunzel dress! Little big but it'll last longer  Evelyn was impatient for it so I asked what do you think? And she said, "it's good enough." Uh...thanks?

June 19

on the way home from errands Evelyn was sitting back there, just babbling away, non-stop, and I was like, Evelyn! can we just have one minute of quiet? and Evelyn said..."Mom, girls talk a lot." oh goodness...then a couple minutes later she asked, when are we moving? me: "why do you want to move?" Evelyn, "moving is fun!" um...no....  she's so funny though

June 22

Evelyn has all of the sudden gotten very formal with me...the past couple days it's all "mother" this and "mother" that....although she pronounces it more "mudder" pretty funny....

June 26

Evelyn: I slept good last night!
me: um, no you did NOT!
Evelyn: Never mind.

SO TIRED!!!!! She slept AWFUL....

July 15

Evelyn: "mom I can't play dolls on the table with your feet up there. My doll is about to have a baby and she can smell it."

July 18

Evelyn, in her prayer tonight, "thank you for letting us be a flamily and that we don't die or go to jail."

Um...ok? Haha! She's really been noticing in shows, like Rugrats, where the kids don't have moms so I told her that Chuckys mom got sick an died and now she's fixated on it...not quite sure where she got the whole jail thing though! Definitely haven't watched anything for that. She keeps saying, "don't put me in jail!" though...oh kids...

July 23

Evelyn was going potty and started crying so I was like, what's wrong? Her response, "I love you so hard and sweet!" haha!!! Ok?? random little child....

August 9

Evelyn has these imaginary kids she randomly will talk about and pretend with and tonight she comes in and says, "kids! You're embarrassing me!" Haha!!! I don't know why and what they did but it was just random and funny

Sept 1

Mark was kicking a ball around with Evelyn and very gracefully broke a window...ugh!...although Evelyn's response was pretty funny...she came in and said, "we're gonna need some glue"

Sept 3

Evelyn had to go to her room tonight cuz she wasn't listening and she was up there crying and carrying on so when she finally calmed down and came down stairs she told me, "when I was up there crying I was singing a song and it said, you shut my door and now I'm blue." HAHAHA! I couldn't stop laughing....she's so funny!

Evelyn was very appalled that Mark wasn't having friends over for his birthday "party" (which was just dinner at home with cake)....kids are so funny!

so we were walking around a store last night and Evelyn see's a dress and says, "I have the perfect hips for that dress!" except of course, she wasn't really meaning hips, but we still haven't corrected her cuz it's MUCH less embarrassing to have people over hear her talking about hips rather than what she really means!!! this girl sure is funny though!!!!

And here's some pictures of her from nearly every month of the past year :)
