Since it's been so rainy this past month, we decided that we should take Sierra up Provo Canyon to see Bridal Veil Falls. It's still beautifully green up there and the river and waterfall were going great! This time though we decided to do a little hiking and go up closer to the waterfall instead of staying at the base of it. They have a little trail going up to the middle which was pretty easy going. Mark and Sierra were both pretty darn cute in making sure I was ok...but don't worry, I didn't do anything strenuous or anything. I took it nice and easy and let them go up the harder places. :)
Sierra had so much energy and just went to it climbing up by the waterfall. Her and Mark were pretty funny to watch too as they tried to figure out what ways to climb. Then they got to playing in the water. It was really fun though and So pretty up there closer to the actual falls! The mist they put off was so nice too. Mark and Sierra wanted to climb higher but it was steeper so we decided not to risk it. Plus we wanted to start our fire and dinner so we headed back down. This time though we took a quicker route and "slid" down this one part. That was really funny too...Sierra went down first and starting sliding on her butt but the rocks just carried her down so she had to stop and slow herself down and go down using her hands and feet. Fun times. She wanted to play at the base for a bit so she walked around barefoot in the water and climbed on the rocks...such a little kid! The water was pretty cold though and she was being a pansy about walking in it. Then she finally got out and almost fell doing it. :)
After all that we went down to the spot Mark and I went to last time, got all the stuff out of the car and were about to start the fire when I realized we forgot our cooler which had the corn and brats and such in it. This time I wasn't entirely at fault for forgetting it because Sierra and Mark were in charge of putting all that stuff in the car. So we made Mark go back home (it's really not that far) and get it. When he finally did we started the fire and started cooking the brats, corn, and potatoes. We had just finished up cooking our brats when it started sprinkling and then it started raining. So upsetting!
We let the corn and potatoes stay in the fire to cook and headed over under the pavilion to keep our stuff dry. We quickly went back to the fire to make at least one s'more each then grabbed the food in the fire and ate at the pavilion. This was my first time doing corn on the cob in the fire and it was SO good! We didn't wrap them enough with foil so Mark's got a bit burnt and the potato skins were crispy but everything else was perfect! Despite the rain we had a great time. Sierra loved the waterfall and we just loved getting out of the house! We're planning on going up the canyon, to a different spot, and doing the campfire/hiking thing again before she leaves...hopefully it will be a bit less rainy!
