"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." --St. Augustine--

Once again I'm posting a bit late but this week I was actually kinda busy so that's my excuse. :) For Memorial Day weekend Mark and I decided we wanted to get out of Provo and maybe have some fun. So we roped Calvin and Amy into our plans and went down to St. George for the weekend. Calvin's parents live down there and have an awesome house (I forgot to take a pic of it though!!!) so we stayed there and did some things around the area. Amy and Calvin wanted to do there engagement pics down there so Sunday afternoon we hiked around Snow Canyon to scope out spots and then they returned that night with his dad and an AMAZING professional Canon camera with a Massive lens on it...I was thoroughly jealous of it and wanted to take it home with me but I thought I might get in a bit of trouble for it. :( They got some great pics though, the scenery was beautiful!

We actually didn't do much else in St. George except go see the new Terminator movie with Christian Bale (so good!) and then Monday morning before we left Amy and I did a quick stop at the Outlet mall while the guys played on the four-wheelers...I was slightly jealous of that as well...I love four-wheelers! SO fun.

(This was Mark's first time to drive a four-wheeler, he wants one now...)

(I may not have gotten a pic of the house but I did get a pic of the pretty corvette in front of it!!!)

Saturday was our big adventure day. We drove the two hours to Vegas and spent the day there walking the strip and looking at all the cool/crazy stuff that makes up Vegas. :) First we ate at In-N-Out burger cuz Mark had never been. We all decided that their burgers were pretty darn good but the fries just ok. After we ate we went and walked it all off on the strip. We spent a lot of time walking through the casino's/hotels which was nice cuz I didn't get burned! I got a smidge red but I'm ok with that... Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of Vegas--way too crowded and busy and dirty for me, but it does have some cool stuff to look at.

The hotels are amazing but I think it's so sad that they're all pressed up against each other and just run together. It kinda makes them lose their grandeur because they're all crowded together. They'd be So much more impressive out by themselves with space around them! But they're still pretty cool to look at. I think our overall favorite was the Bellagio. It just seemed so classy and nice compared to some of the other ones, but not overly so and not completely confusing. Some of those places are SO hard to find your way out!!! We got lost a few times trying to find an exit.

(This is THE coolest chocolate fountain ever!!!)

(This was in the Bellagio garden...cool place)

(And how cool is this ceiling???)

One pretty cool hotel was the Luxor, I've only ever seen the outside but the inside is pretty neat. We snuck on the guest elevator and went up as high as we could so we could see it from high up. The elevator ride almost made me sick (it goes up at an angle instead of straight up...man is that awful feeling!!!), but the view was almost worth it! Calvin threw a couple airplanes off the top (we didn't hit anybody, don't worry) and then threw some change down the inside slope of the stairwell-which is pretty crazy to look down/up cuz it's all sloped. Don't worry if that makes no sense. I think everyone's favorite part of the Luxor though was the gigantic Transformers image on the outside...how cool is that? We're all pretty excited for that movie to come out.

So we mostly just walked around in Vegas cuz we were too poor to do any of the shows, etc. We went to the M&M factory, walked through lots of shopping, saw lots of good looking food/dessert places, and of course saw lots of casinos... We ended the day with eating at a buffet (next time we'll pay the extra $10 and go to one of the really good ones, the one we went to was just ok...) and then we took this monorail to where we parked and pretty much almost died...seriously...this thing was SO scary to ride on! Mainly because it was SO packed with people...way too many for it to hold so it would sway and lean on the turns...I was so scared and SO glad to get off of it!

(This was at the 3-D movie at the M&M factory, aren't we attractive?)

After that we headed over to the other end of the strip to watch the volcano erupt at Treasure Island (?) and see the water show at the Bellagio--so cool!!! Probably one of my favorite things to do there. Mark was fascinated because of the "engineering" behind it all, he's been learning about things like that in his hydrology class.

We were all really glad to get back to the car and sit down-walking the strip sure tires out your feet! We enjoyed a nice ride back to St. George with thousands of stars glittering in the sky and playing stupid car games...we got back really late and went right to sleep- I haven't slept that hard in so long! It was kinda nice... :)

We only stayed in St. George til Monday afternoon, I had to work that night :( so we headed back at 2:00 and I barely made it to work on time. We had a nice clear, easy drive all the up to Utah Valley and then we hit this massive traffic jam, I don't know what was holding it up, but it was SO lame. I got kinda frustrated cuz I was late and traffic is annoying and I was tired so Monday wasn't too fun for me, but we made it back in one piece and all alive so I guess we did ok! Anyway, this post is long but I have more to say so I'm going to post a few more pics and then post another one about the remainder of the week for you. So stay tuned!!!

(This one is for you Momma! It's as close to Maria Osmond as I got in Vegas :)
